Drinking Water Filter - Water purification is the one process of removing undesired substances such as biological impurities, chemicals, suspended solids and gases from contaminated water. This is to make the water fit for a certain objective. The main purpose of water purification is to produce drinking water for human. Anyway the water purification can also be used for a variety of other purposes including meeting the requirements of medical, pharmacology, chemical and industrial applications. Generally, the techiques are included physical, biological and chemical processes. The physical processess are filtration and sedimentation. The biological processes are slow sand filters or activated sludge. And the chemical processes are flocculation and chlorination and the utilization of electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet light. The standards for drinking water quality are generally set by governments or by international standards. These standards will typically set minimum and maximum concentrations of impurities for the use which is to be made of the water.



There are many methods of filtration for water purification. Filters use sieving, adsorption, ion exchanges and other methods. Unlike a sieve or screen, a filter can be used for removing particles much smaller than the holes through which the water passes.



Main issue of Water Filters for home use include granular-activated carbon filters (GAC) used for carbon filtering, metallic alloy filters, microporous ceramic filters, carbon block resin (CBR) and ultrafiltration membranes. Several filters use more than one filtration process. An example of this is a multi-barrier system. Jug filters can be used for small sizes of drinking water.
